Dosage
The following dosage can be followed:
- Asthma- Montelukast is typically prescribed as 10 mg once daily for adults and adolescents (15 years and older), to be taken in the evening. For children aged 6-14 years, the usual dose is 5 mg once daily in the evening. For younger children aged 2-5 years, the dose is 4 mg once daily, also in the evening. Montelukast helps in preventing asthma symptoms and exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
- Allergic Rhinitis- Montelukast is also prescribed for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis. The usual dose for adults and adolescents (15 years and older) is 10 mg once daily. For children aged 6-14 years, 5 mg once daily is recommended, and for younger children aged 2-5 years, 4 mg once daily is typical. It can be taken at any time of the day, but it’s often convenient to take it in the evening, especially when used concurrently for asthma.

In case of Overdose
In case of overdose, seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms may include thirst, drowsiness, and stomach pain.
